My husband, daughter and I just got back from a weekend to Cape Cod to see my mom and sister. (it's where I'm from).
It was the best trip by far!
We took the risk Friday night through the "hurricane" to make it to the cape. We knew it was going to be great weather once the "hurricane" passed, and it WAS! It was SO worth the risk. A little scary but worth it.
Madi slept the whole way, thankfully and the only time it was really bad was closest to the cape. By the time Hurricane Earl touched down at the cape it had been reduced to a tropical storm still windy and rainy but not a hurricane.
It was kind of fate that a hurricane was coming on this weekend because we were married when Hurricane Hannah hit in 2008. She was more out to sea but we definitely got the rain! Yet it was the funnest Time EVER!
Now we relived that day with "hurricane" Tropical Storm Earl, and by the time we got to my Mom's house, and unpacked the car, the electricity went out. We went to bed and awoke to the MOST beautiful day! Sunny, blue skies, and a great strong breeze.
A few great things we did this weekend:
- Visited Mommies Gramma and watched her do the Chicken Dance (kinda insulting if you ask me, but that's another story)
- Went to a craft fair by the shore ( alittle too small) but had the BEST dogs playing in the field!
- Took Madi to the beach for the first time to watch the sunset
- watched the frogs in my mom's water garden
- Took Madi to my Favorite Ice Cream Parlor on the Cape (Ice Cream Smuggler's)
- Spent one whole day (10am-4pm) at the beach with my husband and daughter for the first time EVER! (my husband's never gone with me before)
- and another first, my Husband and I went to dinner without our daughter for the first time. (didn't have much to talk about since we were both so tired! hahaha)
